Terry has over 20 years’ experience working in the Accounting Profession and holds a Bachelor of Commerce, Tax Agent Certificate, Diploma in Financial Services and is a Fellow of the Certified Practicing Accountants. Terry’s specialties include franchise, investment, and commercial and residential property. He consults with business and individual clients in the areas of tax and strategic planning and has a wide range of accounting experience which enables him to provide relevant and timely advice.
Alastair has over 20 years’ experience in the accounting profession. Alastair holds a Master of Commerce as well as a Graduate Certificate in Professional Accounting. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Public Accountants and has been a registered tax agent in his own right since 1998. Alastair is also a member of the Golden Key International Honour Society, an invitation only honours organization that recognizes academic excellence.
Scott graduated from the University of Tasmania in 2006 with a Bachelor of Commerce and is a Certified Practising Accountant (CPA) and public practising certificate holder. Scott specialises in taxation, corporate tax compliance and strategic planning with clients that range from individuals to small and medium enterprises both within the Tasmanian community and abroad.
Kira has been in the industry since 2008 and has experience working both the Accounting and Financial Planning Professions. She holds a Bachelor of Commerce along with a Graduate Diploma of Financial Planning, and Certified Practicing Accountant designation.
After starting his working life in small business administration Kristian made the move into accounting in 1998. He continued to work while completing his study with Deakin University and CPA Australia. After 20 years Kristian specialises in small to medium business and gains the most satisfaction from understanding the clients and helping them to achieve their goals through the development of strong relationships and open communication.
Hayden joined the Scanlon Richardson Team in 2019 having previously worked in the accounting and finance sector of the construction industry for the past 5 years. Hayden’s focus on professional development, along with his enthusiasm and positive attitude is well received by clients who which he enjoys working closely with to understand what drives them to succeed in their areas of expertise.
Matthew was born in Bath, England and studied Business Management at Solent University, Southampton. He moved to Hobart in 2017 after spending the previous 12 years living in London. Before making the decision to change career and train up to be an accountant, Matt had spent 6 years working in the non-profit industry as a manager in a registered charity.
Stuart has recently relocated to Hobart from Cowra in NSW with his wife and two children. Stuart studied Accounting and Applied Science at Charles Sturt University and has worked in agriculture, horticulture and irrigation before becoming an accountant. Stuart has vast experience in all areas of taxation and business management.
Lucy joined the team at Scanlon Richardson in 2017 as a Client Services Manager. Lucy has a strong background in bookkeeping, with vast experience using the latest cloud-based accounting software. She has previously worked with small to medium businesses across different industries and is passionate about delivering quality bookkeeping services to our clients.
Shannon is our superannuation specialist, she has comprehensive superannuation experience gained from her over 15 years working in the area, in particular the self managed superannuation sphere and her thoroughness, attention to detail and analytical skills are highly prized. As an accredited SMSF Association Specialist together with a Diploma of Financial Planning this enables her to tackle even the most complex superannuation questions and issues.
Andrew has over 30 years’ experience in the accounting profession. He holds a Batchelor of Commerce as well as CPA and Fellow of the Institute of Public Accountants. Prior to joining Scanlon Richardson he was Managing Director of Abacus Accounting & Tax for over 23 years. Andrew specialises in providing personalised service and building close relationships with his clients.
Ryan has worked in the accounting industry since 2016 whilst completing his Bachelor of Business at the University of Tasmania. He is currently working towards attaining his CPA (Certified Practising Accountant) qualification. Ryan is passionate about delivering positive outcomes for clients, with a specialisation in SME compliance. He also has experience with a wide range of accounting software and is able to assist with payroll, tax and reconciliation issues.
Jacob graduated from the University of Tasmania in 2019 with a Bachelor of Business, majoring in Accounting. After graduating University, he worked at Abacus Accounting, before joining the Scanlon Richardson team through a merger. Jacob has a passion for seeing local businesses strive, coming from a family of small business owners and having worked in the retail industry for over 5 years. He has a keen interest in rural and agricultural small business having grown up on his father’s farm.
Carol has over 20 years experience in tax and accounting. She has a Bachelor of Accounting and is a member of Chartered Accountants ANZ.

Amina joined the Scanlon Richardson team in 2022 after graduating from the University of Tasmania with a Master of professional Accounting in 2021, specialising in Business Management. She is passionate about working closely with individuals and SME’s to deliver quality accounting services. She is always ready to help our clients with their tax compliance and offer support when required, as well as focusing on her professional development.
Janelle joined Scanlon Richardson in 2022 through a merger with Unicorn Business Solutions, where she provided tax and accounting services for over 3 years. Prior to that, she spent over 5 years in the hospitality industry in administrative and management roles, including working abroad in New Zealand and Canada. Janelle has a vast variety of skills and experience and specialises in analysing and fixing client data to ensure it is accurate and reliable. She strives to build close relationships with her clients to gain qualitative meaning of their numbers, and to develop value in her trusted communication and readily available support.
Ryan joined the team in 2023 after Scanlon Richardson merged with Unicorn Business Solutions, where he spent 11 years helping small business owners build a business that works for them instead of the other way around. He possesses a terrifying knowledge of cloud systems and their integration to and operation with Xero and is passionate about business owners getting the right information to the right people at the right time to ensure they make informed decisions in their business. He holds a Bachelor of Arts majored in Journalism Media & Communications and International Relations, has previously managed a busy restaurant in London, and has an on and off history of performing in musical theatre. Ryan’s brings his rich and varied knowledge to our business clients to help them grow their businesses and assist them to achieve their goals.
Heidy joined the Scanlon Richardson team in 2023 after relocating to Hobart from Brisbane, bringing with her more than two decades of experience in the accounting industry. Heidy holds a Bachelor of Commerce and is a Certified Practising Accountant (CPA) and enjoys working with a range of clients, from individuals to small and medium businesses in a variety of industries. Having been a business owner herself, Heidy has a good understanding of the challenges facing people in business today. Heidy is well versed in many accounting software packages including Xero, QuickBooks, Reckon, MYOB and Cashflow Manager. Heidy strives to assist her clients with all their business needs and to answer their questions without using any accounting jargon.
Administration
Tracey joined Scanlon Richardson Financial Group in June 2018 as one of our Client Service Managers. With a strong background in finance and professional services, Tracey is well placed to assist our accounting team deliver the highest quality service to our clients.
Having previously worked for a major bank as well as in the corporate sector, she brings a variety of skills and experience to our firm.
Anna joined the team in August 2018 after travelling around Australia for two years. She has previously worked in client services / administration roles in the accounting industry and we are now fortunate that she has joined us as part of our reception and administration hub. Make sure you ask her about her travels when you come in to the office!
Caralyn has recently joined the Scanlon Richardson team after previously working in the accounting and taxation industry for many years. With her warm and welcoming personality, she brings a cheerful presence to the reception desk. In her spare time, she likes to raise money, awareness and devotes her time to a local cat rescue organization in the Hobart community.
Ava joined the Scanlon Richardson team in 2023 after her move from NSW, bringing with her extensive experience in the customer service industry. With a vibrant and bubbly personality, Ava is the friendly face you’ll encounter at reception when you visit the office. Her warm and welcoming demeanour ensures a positive experience for clients and visitors alike. In her spare time, Ava shares a love for travelling, hiking and painting.
Debbie joined Scanlon Richardson in July 2020 as a Bookkeeper and then in 2021, transitioned to join our admin team as a Client Services Manager. Debbie has over 16 years’ experience within the taxation and accounting industry and brings with her a wealth of experience that ensures our clients receive top-notch support. Debbie’s love for overseas travel has taken her to many destinations, including Thailand, Vietnam, Vanuatu, London, Germany, Italy, America and Canada. She is looking forward to many more travel adventures ahead.
